Randy Bryan Moore is a Richmond-based musician, pianist, audio producer, social worker, and public policy advocate. Raised in South Carolina's Pee Dee region with paternal family roots in Southwest Virginia's Cumberland Mountains, his work joins Southern and Appalachian storytelling with experimental sound. Across live performance, records, podcasts, and advocacy, he creates high-trust spaces for connection, truth, and change.

Randy Bryan Moore grew up in South Carolina's Pee Dee region with paternal family roots in Southwest Virginia's Cumberland Mountains. His family story includes being a cousin of the Carters and the Stanleys. Music, folklore, and family storytelling were part of everyday life. He began singing in church and recording voice and instruments onto cassette at eight, learned piano by ear at ten, and picked up guitar at thirteen. Without formal notation, he built a musical language through repetition, curiosity, and close listening.

After leaving high school following ninth grade, Randy returned through a GED, earned a BSW with Leadership Distinction from the University of South Carolina, and completed an MSW one year later. More than a decade in LGBTQ+ rights, health policy, community organizing, housing, federal public service, mental-health advocacy, and early-childhood policy informs his creative practice: close listening, clear communication, and respect for the whole person in the room.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Randy performs regularly at The Jefferson Hotel and has played more than 30 wedding cocktail hours. He writes and records original music as Randy Bryan, collaborates on experimental sound design, produces long-form spoken storytelling, and documents an ongoing journey through 1,000 songs. His work favors texture, dynamic space, and emotional clarity: polished enough to travel, human enough to stay true.

In the early 2010s, Randy co-fronted Columbia surf-pop quartet Dead Surf with guitarist and vocalist Kelsey Lopez de Victoria, alongside drummer Lee Garrett and bassist Michael Roberts. Randy played keys, sang, and wrote songs. After reconnecting with Kelsey, he brought the catalog to streaming in July 2026 as the 12-song summer never was // dune boogie (deluxe), preserving a formative collaborative chapter and folding the earlier Dune Boogie material into the album.

Whether performing live, producing a record, engineering a podcast, or leading a workshop, Randy creates thoughtful, high-trust spaces where artists and storytellers can take risks without losing themselves. His music and advocacy share the same method: pay attention, tell the truth, and make room for another person to be heard.
